This past weekend, the "Pride of the Valley" traveled to Elgin for the Elgin Owls Southwest Showdown Marching Competition in Elgin, OK. This is a two-part contest that requires a preliminary performance AND a final performance.
In the preliminary competition, the band swept all of the awards for their class, taking home the following caption awards:
- High Music Performance
- High Visual Performance
- 1st Place Drumline
- 1st Place Drum Major
- 1st Place Band
- Spirit Award
In the finals competition, the "Pride of the Valley" had the final performance of the night and executed well. The band took home Best Overall Drumline out of all bands present, which included some bands from 5A and 6A! In the end, the band earned a 2nd place finish for Saturday's competition, coming up just short of Duncan.
The band will be traveling to compete in the OSSAA Marching Regionals as well as the Holdenville Blue & Gold Marching Classic upon their return from Fall Break.
